Where I can buy components without tax?

Jumas548

Where I can buy components for cheap and no 24% tax? I am from finland. Do I need to pay any extra tax/customs duty if I order from UK or Germany? I was thinking about mindfactory and amazon.uk,.,...

Finland is within the European Single Market, so you are free to buy from any other part of same without additional taxes. However you can't avoid paying tax either. I'm not aware of any way for an individual to legally get around taxes. There may be ways as a business, and there are illegal ways, but that isn't likely to help...

Prices on amazon.co.uk are inclusive of tax - there is no extra fee to pay. This is normal for places that sells to normal people. The only exception might be some sites that focus on business to business deals, where VAT may not be included.

I know there are some countries where the taxes are outrageously high because the country provides them "free" health care among other benifits but man 24% is harsh. If your income can compensate for it then it's not a real issue but if my US state tax was 24% I wouldn't have nearly as many computer parts.

Depends on where you live and if you buy from a normal retailer and not Ingram Micro or other sellers you shouldn't worry about it.

Amazon/Azerty/Coolblue/Bol all include tax and are adjusted to you region.

Avoiding tax/VAT is illegal.

You are not allowed to talk about that type of stuff on here, if you aren't trying to do that then don't worry about it it all gets calculated at checkout ;)

We in Belgium have a pretty decent pay, around € 1300 (Netto, meaning what you get after taxes 'n' that shit) which is around $ 1.500.

But we pay 21% on a load of items considered "Luxury Items" .. soap is one of those :D

6% on others.

We make more, but we spent A LOT more it all ends up compensating, food is also more expensive here especially in Belgium.

To non-Finns:

We can order from any EU-country without customs duties and VAT is determined by the country the order is made to, ie. when ordering from e.g. Germany, the VAT is 19%, whereas when ordering within Finland it'd be 24%. One cannot order without VAT at all, however, unless you have a company to do it in the name of.

Soap is luxury? What representative(s) made that decision? Sounds like they just wanted more money off something they know everybody needs/uses.

Due to the area I was raised having multiple tax rates based on product also confuses me. Though there are exceptions pretty much everything is either a specific percent tax (6%, 8%) or the very rare "tax free" (usually food produce like fruits & vegetables) Everything else is usually the one and only state/federal combined tax which I believe is 4% + whatever states tax you live in.

Don't quote me on too much of this. I didn't pay much attention in high school economics.

Believe me, buying from Amazon.de is probably best option. Still there's things like having debit card required and any warranty must be done via Amazon. Mindfactory used to be option, but you now need to be business to buy outside of Germany. There are other stores, but I don't recommend them (bog NO on Aöternate with their €97 on shipping and handling costs). Amazon has free shipping for stuff over €50. UK Amazon might not ship PC hardware to Nordics (this might have changed since I was last looking).

PS. Kyllähän meitä on täällä muutama.

It is and I have no clue who made it.

But we pay 21% TAX (BTW as we call it) on it most items.

Some stores offer to get some shady bookkeeping done to avoid it but I wouldn't take them up on that offer unless you want trouble, in ye olden days it might have been possible but keep in mind every transaction you make is logged and cash is limited. (Payments over X € are not allowed in BE)

In the states goods or services purchased online don't have tax, however at the end of the year you're suppose to fill out a form stating how much you spent online and then pay the total tax on that. The issue here is that most consumers do not follow this practice.

I had heard in the past few months that the US is going to try including tax in online purchases but so far it seems to have yet to take effect.

I was told the reason it wasn't included up to this point is because it has something to do with purchasing goods from different states. Different states have different tax rates so do you pay based on where the product is coming from or do you pay based on where you're located?

Ex: Lets say I'm buying something online from the state of Pennsylvania which has a sales tax of 6%. I live in New York with a sales tax of 8%. Do I pay 6% on the good or 8%? So online stores don't charge tax and you're suppose to file your online expenditures at the end of the year and pay the tax yourself. Again, most people don't. According to what I was told this is technically illegal and/or tax evasion, a federal offense.

This was part of the whole Newegg debacle a few months back where they were essentially forced to contact all their customers and demand they pay tax on previous purchases.

IMHO better to just include taxes in prices.

Ja saaks tääl puhuu ees suomee, ja jos ei saa ni puhutaa dm:ssä ok?

EU kaupoissa alvi on aina hinnoissa.
