Crashed in Bios, Windows10 freezes and doesn´t response but Safe Mode works fine?

Hey Guys,

Specs:

I7 8700k

ASUS ROG Maximus X Hero

Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 3200mhz

Windows 10 Pro

Dark Rock Pro 3

if more is needed please tell me.

Sry if I´m not writing good or make mistakes but I`m so worried. I was in my BIOS after I installed a new fan to adjust it there. Then I wasn´t thinking straight and changed the Core/Cache Value because from an OC I did ealier today this was the setting is used (255.5 because i was wondering why it reset...). After saving and starting the pc it crashed while in boot (after the Prompt to go into the BIOS) and when it started to load it crashed. After that I could load into Windows 10. There it would freeze very fast and crash many times. Trying to go back to an older Recovery Point was impossible. So after reading on Google I went into Safe Mode to test if everything is alright there. Everything is working fine but I can´t make an image to reinstall Windows while in Safe Mode. Im in here for around an hour now and even write the post on this very PC (Saving all my Data). But I changed the core multi to 3.7 for safety aswell as all else on AUTO settings.

Any ideas? (Gonna cut it here for safety purposes)

Try removing cmos battery and then put it back.

What he said. There might even be a jumper on your motherboard you need to jump after removing the CMOS battery, to really reset everything to default.

NOTE: I no longer frequent this site. If you really need help, PM/DM me and my e.mail will alert me.

Jumper or a clear CMOS button is pretty much the only official ways of clearing the CMOS. I never liked the removing battery method as it's clumsy and there's no official guidelines on how to perform that method properly.

When I've hit that point I boot up off of the Win 10 DVD and start to go through the motions to reinstall Windows from the disc. Reason is, you will get to the main kickoff page and you will have an option to Repair Your Computer. Fire that up and look for the option to fix Startup Problems. Often, it runs and says it couldn;t fix it, but then I reboot and it works! If you get it to the point where windows will boot, you can also bring up the CMD window (Run as Administrator) and run this: sfc /scannow That will scan and fix system files also.

Oh, whenever you install or reinstall or repair Windows, make sure your C drive is the only one connected. Any extra drives, disconnect them first.

Äh, sorry I should´ve posted it the very moment instead of what I wrote... While I was in Safe Mode I ran "sfc /Scannow" which found issues and repaired them. After that I reset CMOS. This helped me getting into Windows and managed to make a bootable Windows 10 USB Drive without crashes or freezes (uptime at the moment 27 Minutes). I can´t exactly tell what the reason was but what I can say that didnt help was me having the same OS install over 2 Motherboards (this being the third) and not thoroughly unintsalling everything else. So it was most likely such a noobish mistake that brought that on me aswell. Still can´t tell about the CPU but from watching Core Temp and CPU-Z everything is working fine and without problems. If you have a suggestion that I could check just in case aswell please tell me so.
