Which one to keep? X5670 or I5-2500K?

I have two systems and one needs to go (Lack of room). The X5670 is OCed to 4.0Ghz and runs perfectly. The I5-2500K is OCed to 4.5Ghz and runs great as well.

In Geekbench and Cinabench, the 2500K beats the X5670 in single core tasks by quite a bit, but in multi-threaded tasks, the X5670 wins by around 20% or so (4 cores vs 12 cores).

So, which one do I keep? Or do I sell both and build something new? This is a second computer,  so, it's not mission critical. (Main is an I7-6700K OCed to 4.6Ghz).

So, what do you think? I think the X5670 is really cool, but I think the I5-2500K is faster, newer, and probably more reliable in the end.

Thanks!

Both are still awesome CPUs but the i5 will be better at high refresh rate gaming. If you have a nice X58 board they sell for a crazy amount used and I would say it's worth selling it while it's still worth so much.

That's an F in the profile pic

I would keep the X seires. also they are really good for overclocking and are more expensive CPU's.

the Xeon's are like 30$ so they're way cheaper

I replaced an i7 2600 system with my x5680 system. Rendering video and playing multi-core games the Xeon comes out ahead.  The real world difference in single core was not noticeable for me. My i7 Lenovo was not overclockimg, so it made the Sabertooth that much more desireable.

I'd sell the X58, given the resale value right now.

Honestly I'd sell both unless you really need two desktops.

Use the money to buy crazy upgrades for your main rig, like a 2TB NVMe or 144Hz HDR screen?

If that's the best use of the funds, then sure.

If these are your only two systems I would keep the Xeon X58 for multitasking and really decent gaming.
