Is it actually 500gb hard drive? (Sort of data recovery)

youmanyousef

So I upgraded from my laptop to my desktop a while back, probably a year from now and decided to put my information from the laptop into the desktop because I had old memes and wanted to look at them for lolz. However the drive (unfortunately/fortunately which way you look at it) stopped me from accessing any file at all. After some digging i realized I had to go to every file I wanted access to and change the security for it! I couldn’t do it for a folder or the whole drive (and yes I did click child files and folders) and just resorted to using a data recovery software. When I did the deep scan, it showed 1300+ gb of files!! What there’s only 300 gigs on the drive that I used of the 500? How is this possible? I even checked a folder called $recyled.bin and found long gone photos I intentionally deleted and wiped forever and they all work and are mostly not corrupted. I’m just curious and I’m not sure if this is the right board either. Thanks in advance. ?

I've seen this before.

Unsure what DR software you were using, but I"ve found it's best to grab folder by folder, you'll get a more accurate answer that way, in case any are cross linked.

NOTE: I no longer frequent this site. If you really need help, PM/DM me and my e.mail will alert me.
