should I liquid metal cool

my dad has a 2013 macbook air and he occasionally plazs CSGO. but hes complaining about thermals and thermal throttling. So i was thinking aboud liquid metal cool his macbook. will it make a difference and if yes then should I do it?

A high quality thermal paste replacement would be what I would do.  Cheaper, easier and no way to damage anything with nearly the same results.  The paste that is on that system is 5-6 years old now.

csgo on an air? I think he should get a new mabook pro 13 inch i5 8th gen.

 

the air has terrible thermals even because the fans are shit and the case is shit.

No need for liquid metal. Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut is safer and will do the job well too.

To add a little to what @TheGlenlivet said, going LM on any mobile device is a REALLY bad idea. LM is liquid little below room temp, and any thumping, shoving, thacking, nudging, or dropping can make that LM slither out, likely onto electrical contacts or other undesirables.

 

Regular non-conductive paste is best suited for mobile devices. LM is best used for stationary devices.
