GTX 1080 ti vs new GTX 1180, do i really need the extra power?

Andre-

So i can get a used GTX 1180 ti for only 680 USD, normal price in my country is 1020 USD. The new GTX card will be released soon and i am thinking that the extra power the card will give us, that i dont need it for the FPS games i play, i only play Quake champions and Quake live, and i will play devil may cry 5 when it comes out, for these games i think a 1080 ti would be fine, dont you think?.

I think it's pretty obvious it was a typo guys.

I would say if you can get a good deal on a used 1080 ti then buy that now and wait for reviews of the new 1180 to decide if you want to keep it. You won't lost much money if you get the used 1080 ti cheap enough, but if you don't have extra cash to own two video cards at once then you may end up having to go a few days without while you sell the old one.

So the new 1180 card will have GDDR6 memory they say, isnt this overkill for 1080p gameplay at 144hz?

Run any game at 8x SSAA or 16x SSAA and then you will know it's not overkill.

Also will last a lot longer than other cards.
