5ghz no internet

i have an asus ac56 pcie wifi card and the internet works fine when i use the 2.4 ghz band but when i switch to the 5ghz band it connects fine and you can access the routers setup page but you cannot access the internet at all. the 5ghz band works fine in all my other devices how can i fix this?

Check router or modems 5ghz settings to ensure compatibility with your device you can also try using the 5ghz setting on default and failing this you might have to check security settings in windows.  I too have dabbled with my 5ghz wifi sometimes the 2.4 out performs due to shorter 5ghz range on some modems and adapters.

I found one of my 5ghz devices was running better using a tethered phone than the wifi stick almost 2-3× faster

my wifi card supports all protocols and is close to the router with good signal
