JBL Sub135 Subwoofer Connected to PC Produces no Sound

Spec2jeti

So I'm trying to use a JBL SUB135 subwoofer in my PC. It has 4 satellite speakers and a mid-range wider speaker. All the speakers have been tested and only the satellites and mid-range work. The subwoofer doesn't produce any sound at all. The other speakers require the sub to work so they work. I've tried using different headphone port, front panel, and motherboard and I have tried the on/auto switch, checked the fuse, changed the subwoofer level and I have changed the configuration multiple times. I'm new to audio stuff so I'm not entirely sure if I've done everything I could. I bought it used but the guy said it worked very well and he was only selling because he was switching fully wireless. I am using an aux-RCA adapter. Any help?

Might sound stupid, but it has a nob on the back have you tried turning it

There's also an Auto and On switch on the back, move it to on

Idk if you've tried it just trying to help

Thank you. I've tried the nob and I just tried switching the Auto and On switch now. No luck.

Honestly, and I don't mean this disrespectfully, all I can recommend is https://www.jbl.com/on/demandware.static/-/Sites-masterCatalog_Harman/default/dwb9c9ab26/pdfs/SCS_135_OM_EN-1.pdf

Best of luck chum. If that still doesn't do it I'd maybe try like a specific product forum or similar

Im just trying to understand this, are you using a sub out on your motherboard and using the other audio ports for the sat speakers?? If you bought it used there is a chance that it could have been blown, Id take the driver out of the enclosure and stick a multi meter on the leads connecting to the driver to ensure the driver isnt blown. Maybe test it with a different device, try plugging your phone directly into the amp of the sub. There could honnestly be 100 things wrong with it haha

Okay. I've used a different radio and my phone. Nothing worked. I'm plugging it into my motherboards aux port but I also tried using my front panel aux port as well. And yes, my sub to the motherboard and sat speakers into the subwoofer.  I will try using a multimeter soon. Thank you!

Thank you! I looked there and didn't see anything there that could help me.

I'm not sure how you think you should be connecting everything together, but it's not how you've done it.

The input to the sub should be either:

1. split from the signal going to the satellite speakers (or to the amp powering them) passively or actively, into the line level input.

OR

2. If your speakers are passive (and you have a separate amp) the signal should go from the amp through the high-level inputs, out the high-level outputs to the satellite speakers.

Other than that, make sure the sub is on, has power, the volume isn't at 0, and the cables are all connected properly.

  • 1 year later...

Out of curiosity, do you guys have to deal with port noise on that sub?

LIterally placing my hand in the port reduces it completely
