I5 8400 Temps too high?

Hello everyone,

 

I just bought a new cpu motherboard ram combo and after booting and installing everything i got on speccy to see the temps and im getting 50 degrees on idle. Is this normal? Im planing to change the thermal paste but i think this shouldnt have hapenned in the first place. The heatsink is correctly possitioned.

That is expected. The i5 8400 and pretty much all 8th gen CPU's run hot. Look at some aftermarket options like the 212 evo or anything from Be Quiet or Cryorig.

I've got a bunch of stock 6700/k 4790 4700 7700/k on my job with stock cooler and 50 idle is normal (60-70 working with cad) I dont know why intel put stock coolers on high-end chips , its ok for a low i3-i5 but for a i7 with the workload that an i7 its mean to do its a very bad joke from intel.
