Looking for some advice regarding graphics cards

I believe that would be around a 60-70% performance improvement. If you're not in a rush though rumors are pointing to Nvidia releasing new GPUs around end of August though so that might be something you should look toward instead.

I recently build my new PC with a Gigabyte 970 Windforce that I got from a friend for a $100. I built my PC with a 1070 in mind for the future, but the prices are pretty high right now, as all of you know. The 970 seems to be performing really well, so I'm just wondering if upgrading to the 1070 will provide any notable performance gains, or should I stick with my 970 for the next year or two?

Thank you.

The 1070 will have quite a performance gain over the 970.

If the 970 is going just fine, then there's no real reason to upgrade.

Buy whatever product is best for you, not what product is "best" for the market.

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

As others have said wait off until the end of summer and see if the next generation of cards are out because even if you don't want one of them the 1070 should be cheaper as a result also.
