gtx 1080 or vega 64

Hello, so i currently have a gtx 1080 but was looking to get a freesync 144hz 1080p monitor. Should I make the switch to the AMD side as performance at 1080p is about equal?

If you think its gonna matter. Gonna be turning down settings regardless unless the games are easy to run, if you want to hit 144 smoothly. I would never consider getting rid of a flagship for another if would consider them equal. I use my 1080 on a 1440 free sync, don't care much for syncing at such low frames myself. But I guess that res is another story.

Vega 56 is nearly equal to the 64, get the 56 and save the cash for future upgrades.

What are your frame rates during the games that you play? And are they consistent?

Vega56 then bios flash for 95%+ of Vega64 performance at 20% cheaper.
