Still using my 3T. As for when you should start looking for a new one: it's entirely, wholly up to you. I am planning to stick with mine for 2-3 years more at least, since I would gain absolutely nothing useful from buying a new one. I don't buy phones based on looks and I don't care about trends; I buy my devices based on needs and the 3T already fulfills my needs.

So I've got a question for current and previous OnePlus 3/3T owners.

What phone are you using now?

And since I bought a used OnePlus 3 in late 2017, when should I start looking for a new phone? The dated design and thick bezels are starting to get to me. :P

Thanks. :)

rip.

What would you recommend for me since I bought my 3 so recently? Keep using it until 2019 or sell it and change before then?

I mean, it's still fast as fuck. Keep it until you're thoroughly annoyed with it.

Not sure what are you asking for. Only you can answer this.
If you are not happy with it and can afford another one - why not. Personally I'm still very happy with it and after more than a year, I still like the design a lot.

There's no artificial "when should i start looking for new phone". It solely depends on you.

Honestly, the main reason I'm still using it to this day is cos LineageOS is continuing to breathe life into it. If I was stuck with OxygenOS I would have sold the phone and bought a new phone.

When are you planning to buy a new phone? One of the biggest reasons for me keeping it is the fact that I bought it only 8 months ago. If I had owned it for the last 24 months then I'd be buying a new phone right about now.

No idea. As I said, I don't plan for artificial phone change. Not any time soon at least.

You could try selling it if you want a new phone.

Thing is with that, It would be a side-grade unless I bought a used phone again cos I wouldn't have a huge budget for a new device.

Yeah, that's one of the reason why I'm not planning on switching to new device soon.

Even by spending 400€ today (I paid the same when I bought op3) it would be only a side-grade, not a straight upgrade.

Whats wrong with your OP3/T?

If you want a status symbol, get an iPhone X, drill a hole in it, and wear it around your neck.

I don't want a status symbol or an iPhone.

Having a phone that looks nice and feels nice makes me feel good. On a totally unrelated topic, I am mildly concerned about how fast the battery can be drained.

Looks and feels and how much you value it is subjective. Personally I would go for the OP5T because I like OnePlus's feature set but hate having a notch. I don't mind not having the SD845 because the SD835 is not all that different. Also waiting for the Xiaomi Mi Max 3 which looks promising and is poised to disrupt the entire phablet market. I would use such a phablet as a media device instead of a phone though.

If you can tell me what you like/dislike about your OP3, and what are the things you need/want in your phone, I could start looking for you.

For now, the 5T is completely out of my budget. Even used the phone is still fairly close to MSRP at around £350-390. There's basically nothing close to my budget of around £200 which isn't a sidegrade. Which is kind of sad. :(

Realistically speaking, I'll probably hold out until I can get a phone for around £200 which isn't a sidegrade.

Anything ~£200 brand new is going to be a performance downgrade. I can't look for, or advise, on the used market as I'm not in the UK.

How much did you pay for your OP3?

Admittedly too much at £280 used although a used one now goes for around £200.
