Separate the OS on same HDD but different partition

Hi, I couldn’t find answers on the web. So, I’m here and I wanted to know if I could separate my OS from everything else on my hard drive by dividing them by partition. Similar to using an SDD and HDD combo.

With something like windows 10 you can go into partition manager and simply use the "shrink volume" option. I'm kind of curious as to the reason you would want to do this? Putting the OS on an SSD and data on a spindle drive is to use the speed of an SSD but have the cheaper storage for bulk data. Putting your OS on a separate partition on the same hard drive won't net you any performance gain.

There's no place like ~

Thanks for replying razor blade.

I was thinking if I could do the same thing with the SSD and HDD combo to my HDD by using partitions, I could get a little bit more performance like a faster boot time. I dont know exactly what my logic is yet but I just know that separating the OS from your data speeds up your system.
