Schiit Stack good for gaming with dt 990 250 ohm?

NotMrTaco

I've been asking too many questions regarding, so im just going to go with what I know will work. Will the Magni and modi 2 be a good amp/dac for the 250 ohm dt990? Would it be good for games where you need to listen to footsteps or reloading guns?

Those fashion "DACs" etc have nothing over good sound card, especially for gaming which needs binaural sound simulation for good immersion.

Something like Sound BlasterX AE-5 even gives top quality DAC and very good headphone out at very good price.

Why do you call them "fashion" dacs.

They provide much better sound than any sound card could.

Comments about the dac aside, they would be good for things such as those right?

Sound BlasterX AE-5 has top quality DAC and headphone amplifier good for pretty much any headphone for cheaper.

And for headphone gaming binaural sound simulation is needed.

If game produces good 5.1/7.1 audio besides directionality good headphones also give feel of distance.

Instead of sounds just coming from pretty much inside ear like with standard stereo mix from games.

How about showing some scientifically valid methdods testing results from that?

Any sighted listening is biased by marketing, not lacking in snake oil BS as unreliable as politicians.

Neither do those "audiophile" devices have access to any special parts.

D/A converters are standard parts, and most sound cards use from good to top level ones.

While this tested Realtek ALC889 is at most at budget sound card level.

I sank $2000 of my own money into the DAC2 HGC last December, so I subjectively wanted it to sound better than everything else. Tests have shown that it doesn't. I was surprised, but, having been personally involved in the evaluation and believing in the integrity of what we set up, I rationally accept the findings.

Of course, we're ready for the audiophile community to rise up in arms about the statement you'll read next, but it's true that neither an intermediate enthusiast nor a serious one with ~$70,000 in gear at home were able to reliably tell apart any of the four devices once we properly set up a blind test with accurate volume-matching. We actually enjoyed them all as great audio experiences.

Using world-class headphones, a $2 Realtek integrated audio codec could not be reliably distinguished from the $2000 Benchmark DAC2 HGC in a four-device round-up
