Ryzen 7 1700X Correct Overclock?

Hello to anyone that maybe reading this, I am asking for some help out there to see if I did this overclock correctly. I have never done this before, it is my first time ever and I spent a couple weeks doing research to make sure Im doing it right. I have a Ryzen 7 1700X overclocked to 3.9GHZ on a Asus Prime X370 with 16GB of DDR4 Ram at 2133mhz. The ram is not overclocked, I stress tested it with AIDA64 for 2 hours and it didn't crash. I then tryed some games and it works fine, no crashes, so to me I believe I got a stable overclock. Yay for me yes but I want to show the settings I changed in my Bios, maybe there is still something else I need to change or maybe Im all good I don't know. Any help out there would be greatly apprieciated.

The first picture will say my CPU is at 48C, this is not an idle temp, I was playing a game with some buddys, then stopped and restarted my PC so I can get into my bios, my CPU idles around 30-35C

The core performance boost is disabled, so it looks all good to me.

EDIT: My core clocks and voltages stay at max and consistent. I managed to bring the voltages down when idle but the core clocks stay at max the whole time, is there a way to bring that down or is it okay if its supposed to do that since its overclocked

Its fine, its because its overclocked.

It is supposed to do that, that's one of the trade-offs with overclocking. It shouldn't make a meaningful impact on longevity if you're not pushing it too hard (which you're not).

One thing to note, however, is that Ryzen's boost control is really good. You can do something called a Pstate overclock with Ryzen where, instead of turning off the dynamic clocks and setting a constant value, you can change the target settings for the full-power state. That means that idle clocks and voltages can be normal, all-core boost is overclocked, and few-core boost is even higher than your overclock. I have my 1700X at 3.975 Ghz all-core, but it regularly pushes itself to 4.075, sometimes even 4.1.

That's actually the biggest difference with the "X" chips, they have double the XFR range.

Other than that, I suggest you try overclocking your memory. Ryzen loves fast memory, so you'll probably get a noticeable improvement.

If you want it to down clock when its idle, you can look into power state overclocking (P-state). You could also try to change the minimum processor state (see img), perhaps that's enough to make it down clock (without p-state OC), not sure.

@Dash Lambda How would I do a Pstate overclock? I also don't know how to overclock memory, could you possibly tell me how I can go about that? Sorry for the questions hehe, Im a noob at this and I dont wanna mess anything up XP. I also do not have a AMD Ryzen Power Plan @Frenky, I don't know if this effects anything, most likely it does but Im using Windows 7 o.O

Here's a guide on how to do power state overclocking: https://hardforum.com/threads/ryzen-pstate-overclocking-method-calculation-and-calculator.1928648/

Minimum processor state seems to be the same in win7: https://superuser.com/questions/323738/what-is-minimum-and-maximum-processor-state-in-windows-7-power-management, just check your power options

@Dash LambdaHey man, I dont mean to bother ya, but how would I go about overclocking my RAM? I don't know what mhz is too much or how to mess with the voltage

Does your bios have an XMP option?  That's easiest.  If not, you may have to fiddle with timings.

Would it be the D.O.C.P setting?

That is one way to try it. I would just set it to something like 3200 and go down from their if it doesn't work. Run cinebench and if it doesn't crash run prime 95 for a bit to ensure stability.

DOCP is something ASUS uses to make XMP work on AMD platforms.
It exists because XMP is an Intel standard.
