Why do people buy iPhones?

Please someone explain to me the fascination with iphones? I know less and less people are buying them but... why are people still buying them? what exactly is the appeal?

There really is no point, apple used to actually make good phones before steve jobs died, but then after that having an iPhone has really just become a fashion statement

Personally for me, the reason I don’t buy android is because of how it looks. I also prefer the iPhone’s pretty much everything so :P

"It just works" - Todd Howard, 2015.

People are used to non-stock Android phones being sooooo slow, which is not the case anymore with modern mid end Android phones.

Also, many people have bought into the Apple eco system or even just always had an iPhone and don't want to switch.

The fact that they're very well built? Top of the line specs? Good design?

Brand loyalty? Locked into the Apple ecosystem? Just like Apple products?

I'm not really sure how you're struggling to work out why people buy them.

iPhone cameras are way ahead of android ones. Android phones use software to modify the picture taken from the camera and that makes pictures look terrible.

Also, some people just like IOS more than Android for various reasons.

I would like to say because it's well optimised, has great support that lasts years, an amazing app selection, and is always up to date with the latest security and software stuff. The reality of why MOST people buy them (at least in my area) is because their parents can afford them, they're a fashion statement, they got some great deal on an expensive overpriced phone plan, they own other Apple stuff, or they haven't wanted to try anything else.

My first ever iPhone was purchased last November. I got the iPhone X because it was the highest end model and therefore likely to be supported for the longest period of time.

I moved from Windows Phone, which I liked for its relative security (sandboxing), and with the insider app, it's regular and reliable updates.

I moved to iOS (and iPhone) over Android because when I did, no Android phone could guarantee updates. Even my partners Galaxy Note 8 has only had one software update since he got it - and he got it at the same time as me. Thanks to Google, this is getting better, but it's a few years away from parity on high end hardware.

In my country the only reason people buy the iphones is the status symbol. You take one look at it, and you go: "wow it is an iphone, so it is expensive".

With android phones it is more complicated, because you don't know how much they cost.

Also some people like the ecosystem/operation system.

from the ones i've talked to, there first smart phone was an iPhone so it's the interface they are used to and fact is PEOPLE HATE CHANGE, they are so used to the iOS system they can't use Android, it's like a Windows User that is used to having RIGHT CLICK context menus trying to use a MAC, might as well be a foreign language.

me personally thats how I feel about iOS, I can't navigate for shit in iOS or MACos but I know most everything in Windows and Android.

It's easy to use, fast, fits in my pocket nicely, and has a good enough camera for me. All my chargers are already made for iPhone. I enjoy the ease of use.

This question gets asked everyday, I don't get the fascination with always making new threads...

It's a fashion statement, same reason someone might buy a Gucci belt. That's how I see it at least, I can't think of any other good reason besides the Apple ecosystem. Android get's updates if you buy a popular model and it has an unlocked bootloader and you can flash a newer version of the android OS, Android has phones with better specs and build quality than an iPhone, Android has launchers and icon packs so you can change the look. And Android just offers more.

Privacy might be another one as of late since Android is run by Google and gives untold amounts of information to them.  Apple collects very little if anything at all.  I'll admit I've even given it some thought.

Because they fit my needs and wants better than the competition. They are better phones in my opinion and that's all that matters in the free market.

because they're actually not a bad phone, if they're worth the pricetag apple sticks on them is a different matter, but if you dont like the endless options in android (which.. in today's world simplicity is a feature some people would spend great money on) they are a very nice experience.

i havent had an apple device since my ipod touch 4th gen broke, i'm happy with android, but for some users i do see the value iOS has to offer. its like asking the appeal of of a mercedes, compared to the appeal of a BMW. in the end all it comes down to is user preference.
