Is my 650 watt psu too much?

Scuff

When shopping at microcenter for my pc parts i got a corsair cx650 semi-modular psu (80+) because it was the same price if not cheaper and it was semi-modular. I'm wondering if my power supply is "too much" for my build and maybe upgrades for the future.

Parts in my build:

ryzen 5 2400g (apu)

Arctic freezer 33 esports edition (air cooler)

Msi B350 tomahawk (motherboard)

Nzxt s340 (case)

A Wi-Fi card

inland 240gb ssd

Toshiba 1tb hard drive

Patriot viper 8gb 3000mhz ram

Corsair cx650 (psu mentioned)

Upgrades planned:

Nvidia GeForce gtx 1060/1070

An extra set of patriot viper 8gb 3000mhz ram

An rgb kit

A CX650m is plenty for your build, even if you decide to add in a GTX 1070

They can be unnecessary, which is I think what OP is asking.

450W would be enough for your system with either the 1060 or 1070.
Corsair make CX450Ms as well, so if they're a bit cheaper than the CX650M then I'd recommend going with the cheaper option.

Edit: Just realised you have already purchased it. CX650M will be fine. It's more than you needed and you could have got away with a lower wattage PSU, but it won't cause you any issues having the 650W.

450W would be fine for the upgrades you plan. Since you already got the CX650, don't worry about it.

Doesn't have the second CPU Connector, AFAIR.

So not recommended with that Setup.

Too late to worry about that now.

You have that PSU and you have to deal with it.

With the PSU being too large you usually have some disadvantages like too high price paid and higher fan noise in many cases.

And in some cases, due to the features/connectors, the 650W is just outright useless (be quiet Straight Power 11) and you either get the 550W or 750W but not the 650W....
