I am getting an iMac (because my school mainly uses macs) and I'm wondering how the GPU will perform.

I have a 2017 MacBook Pro with the Radeon Pro 560 GPU in it. Fortnite runs like crap in macOS, so forget about running it in macOS. You will need to use Boot Camp and install Windows 10 which is really easy. Once you have Windows 10 going, Fortnite runs pretty OK with 70-80FPS on Medium settings at 2880x1800 with 50% render resolution (so it actually runs at 1440x900). Luckily Windows 10 does not restrict you too much if you don't activate it, it just won't let you "Personalize" your PC, so you can use it without having to purchase a copy.

Workstation:

Intel Core i7 6700K | AMD Radeon R9 390X | 16 GB RAM

Mobile Workstation:

MacBook Pro 15" (2017) | Intel Core i7 7820HQ | AMD Radeon Pro 560 | 16 GB RAM
