Nikon B700 Lens Hood Project

Just started a new project. My girlfriend shoots Paintball photography and has just gotten into doing it. She got herself a B700 to start off with and after using it for a few days of Paintball was interested in a lens hood to: a) protect it from paintballs and b) help with the lovely sunlight in outdoor paintball; so I started to throw one together myself as I enjoy small projects like these. I'll probably have to modify a few of the dimensions, but in concept the hood will clamp to the neck of the camera using a basic zip-tie clamp and bam it is ready to go. My biggest concern is that the hood does not move with the lens, I've made it long enough that it should cover the lens decently when fully extended but I will have to do some optimizing so that it preforms correctly and will stay out of shot when the lens is in the rear most position. Just looking for some thoughts and feedback on the project, I will be posting updates here, if anyone has suggestions or ideas feel free to nitpick my stuff work.

You can just buy one off amazon, no need to make one yourself. Just google ”B700 lens hood”.

I know you can buy one, like I said I enjoy doing small projects like these. I figured that when it comes to specifically what she is using it for, which is paintball, it'd be better on the camera to take the impact on the hood and the stress be transferred to the main body of the camera rather than the small threads and lens which would happen with the one on amazon. Not only that but it would also be cheaper to replace when it inevitably breaks.
