Ya don't. That's just how Windows 10 scales.

You might want to try setting the external display as primary display instead. Maybe that fixes it for that particular display at least. It might make stuff smaller on the laptop display but that's a small price to pay.

The newest windows update added some kind of bluriness fix. Try that.

Also after connecting the second display restart your computer, it fixes some of the bluriness.

Also it could be that the "sharpness" in monitor settings is set to minimum.

Then Windows is the wrong OS, sadly. Some applications just scale very poorly, that's the way it has to be. The easiest fix is to have the same scaling on all displays.

it was on 50. i turned it all the way up and now it's a bit better, but spotify still isn't as sharp as the taskbar. luckely because my eyes are bad i just had to move the display a little further away and now i can't see the blurryness ;)

Do you wear glasses if you don't mind me asking?

Stop and think a second, something is more than nothing.

Me too, though the reason I asked is because I've come across a number of users in past workplaces that have complained about not being able to see the screen correctly and have had their resolutions set at 1024x768 on a normally 1080p monitor...all because they were too vein or stubborn to wear glasses.

I encountered problems with my eye sight in high school. I gradually moved further to the front of the classroom because of fixed seating positions so I didn't notice the decline at first but yeah, even from there I couldn't sharply see the projector screen. RIP.

You'll probably notice that most of Windows scales quite nicely, but the moment you open a third party application, it gets blurry. This is because a lot of Win32 applications do not properly support display scaling for one reason or another. You can attempt to remedy the issue on a per-application basis by right clicking the shortcut or .exe, selecting Properties, and clicking the Compatibility tab. From there, there's a "Change high DPI settings" menu you can mess around with.

Unless the application is designed for per monitor display scaling, Windows can only emulate it if it can't inject code into the program to forcefully add support. It is up to the developer to add support. This is the up and down sides of Windows Win32 programs. It gives developers an insane amount of power, but the dev needs to do a bit part of the work. This is also why we now have UWP, which is the reverse. Things are locked down, but many things are done for the developer (ink/pen support, multi-touch support, GPU accelerated interface from the get go, high-DPI support, per monitor display scaling support, etc.)

Sadly, as high-DPI support is not seen as a selling feature for software developers, and per-monitor display scaling is a rare setup, don't expect support by devs unless there is a big demand, any time soon. Already, we are moving at the paste of a snail to get basic high-DPI support, due to the popularization of high resolutions displays on laptops.

In the coming up big update of Windows 10 towards the end of the year, you'll have the ability to keep the Display Scaling at 100%, but increase text size everywhere. And that also affects most applications, but not all (ie: not Steam as it uses it's own GUI framework). This might be an interesting feature to play with. Although, programs can look strange as the buttons and size of things remains the same.
