Should u get a gtx 1070ti or wait

I only have $480 but I'm wondering if I should wait for the 1170 to come out or just buy a 1070 ti now. I am concerned that the 1070 will cost more than 480, but if I wait I will either get a 1170 or or the 1070 I want will be cheaper because the market will be flooded with used 10 series cards. I see that there are only advantages to waiting but I'm not patient and I don't know if I could stop myself from buying a 1070 ti after mid August if the 11 series cards are not here yet.

What's your current PC and monitor resolution/refresh rate

GTX 980tis are going for around $300 on ebay, probably just get one of those if you need a higher end card.

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

If you already have a 1060 there's not going to be a major reason to upgrade for a while at 1080p, just drop shadows/AA in whatever game you're playing to get the fps up.

I do all of my gaming at 4k on an RX 580 without issues.

If you already have a 1060 and play at 1080p why are you thinking about buying a 1070ti?

Is there a certain game that is giving you issues?

Yes but I intend to upgrade to a 1440p when I can afford it.

Then you'll probably want to wait because you'll run into the same problem you have now

I assume you mean 1440p 144hz IPS?

Besides that you might want to wait for the Vega refresh/navi whatever

because the best value displays like that are $399 korean displays with free-sync

No idea, we just know AMD said "we have 7nm Vega for gamers too" or whatever. Probably 2H of this year like nvidia.

Well nvidia's release probably depends on when AMD's release is, like how they rushed out the 1070ti to beat vega 56 slightly.

Yeah you are right as soon as one drops a card the other rushes one out to match.

Not so much, because Nvidia is so far ahead and has been for a while they don't have to really do much work anymore.

Much like Intel still thinking they can charge $1799 for an 18 core, when the AMD 16 core with fairly close performance is half the price.

In dx11 gaming nvidia is king but dx12 its neck and neck and if one leads its a small lead.Intel will drop another cpu since the 2700x is neck to neck with the 8700k gaming now lol.
