ram What RAM set up should i use

I am unsure what RAM set up to get for my first gaming build.

I am using the (ASUS Prime X370) motherboard & a RYZEN 7 1700x CPU.

the type of ram I am using will be (32GB of G.SKILL Aegis),

but I lack the knowledge if it would be better to use a two channel kit (2x16GB) or a four channel kit (4x8GB).

the mother board only has four RAM slots and specifications says it supports dual channel memory

open to any help & sorry If I broke the community standards.

Go with 4x8GB since it spreads the bandwidth. Unless you are planning for like an upgrade to 64GB in the future.

A kit with 4 memory sticks is not 4 channels.
 

Whether you use 4 sticks or 2, it's still dual channel.

 

I'd recommend going for 2x 16GB sticks if you plan to get 64GB in the future.

If it was quad channel CPU then 4 sticks.

It's not, it's dual channel so 1 stick is slower than 2 sticks which is the same speed as 4 sticks.

So if you plan to increase the amount of RAM in future,

then obviously 2x16GB.

If not then 2x16GB or 4x8GB will function the same.

But 4 sticks looks better than 2.

 

Oh yeh, Ryzen chips speed depends on RAM speed for the Infinity Fabric

so faster RAM is better.
