Do I need to plug in both 8-pin CPU Headers?

Hey LTT forums! I'm currently finishing up my server build but I've currently only got one Xeon and I've installed it in the CPU2 Socket. The motherboard manual is unclear and the only instruction I could find was "In order to supply adequate power to the motherboard, make sure the 24 pin AND both 8 pin connectors are plugged in." I'm not sure if this is necessary for a single CPU though.

I've never used server motherboards before, I'm used to only having 1 eight pin plug. Plus this build has no PCI expansion cards so it isn't important to me

Suppose so. Not being the type to have use for a server beyond what my Q6600 pfSense machine (RIP SnailPuter, November 2017 to May 2018) could do
