I am looking at a new Asus Radeon Rog strix rx580 8gb top edition gpu for $359aud($265usd).

I have done some research and I think the card looks decent especially for the price and would just like some other people’s opinions where possible.

the 580 is about on par with a 1060 6gb from Nvidia with the 1060 just barely beating it out.

Yeh, that seems like a great choice, cool.  Look into the 1060 6gb, just if it maybe cheaper.

But what sort of games/settings were you playing on? And monitor resolution/refresh rate?

Im probably only going to be playing 1080p maybe 1440p and only need 120hz. I don’t really want to pay $500 or more either.

remember a rx480/580 is a 2 year old card, sure 1080p is fine now but when next gen drops in 2020 you'll have to upgrade again, if you can get a better faster card cheaper do so.

well if anyone has any options that are better than this for less than $500aud id love to hear them.

This card is only $359 at the moment and at most places around $500. But I can’t really find anything beating it under $500

Seems like a good deal to me at $265.

If you're happy with your R9 270 for now I'd advice waiting for next-gen cards to arrive and then decide what to get. Tho no one knows what will happen if another mining boom happens because newer cards are gonna be better at mining :/

But personally I'm holding onto my GTX 760 (on the same level as R9 270) for now as it's not terrible and does the job for now. I refuse to pay over MSRP for 2 y/o cards. AMD and especially Nvidia better cough up those new graphics cards already.

Not using my computer too much at the moment and might be a good idea to wait.

just saw this card pop up for $140 cheaper than usual and it actually comes with farcry 5 aswell I found out so I was very tempted and just wanted to buy it when I don’t actually need it.
