Posted June 19, 2018 Do your headphones have a dual connector? There's a few possibilites. 1) Go to your speaker/audio settings in Windows and see if your mic is there and do some tests to see if it works. If yes, then you're gonna have to root around yourself in the settings and with the drivers. 2) If it fails, it's either your port or your mic/cable. If you happen to have another mic at home, plug it in and see if that works. If it doesn't, the port is broken. If it does, it's your headphones. You could take them apart and try to fix it if you're into that kinda stuff IF NOTHING ELSE WORKS.
 Posted June 19, 2018 Try all possibilites. Reinstall drivers, set this mic to default, perhaps your mic is muted in settings. Try pushing the connector in more, or pull it out ever so slightly (that sometimes works). A guy linked this and apparently it has a lot of different eventualties, so check it out.https://www.techspot.com/community/topics/mic-problem-with-realtek-hd-audio-input.38366/ I remember I had the exact same issue, but that was a long time ago and idk how I solved it - it definitely involved playing with settings and playing with drivers. Apologies if I can't help.

Phones use four contact TRRS connector for combining mic to same port with headphone output. PCs again have separate mic in and need splitter cable to get mic to work. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phone_connector_(audio)#PDAs_and_mobile_phones
