8gb or 16gb

So I am building a new pc i5 8400  and 1060 6gb g1 gaming and I dont know if I should buy 8 gb 3000hz ram or 16 3200hz should I keep my  money and go cheap

I would go for a 16GB kit that's at a lower speed.

I'd go 8gb because you can always buy more later on, possibly for less.

You can start with 8gb just fine, upgrade to 16gb when you have more meaningful GPU

If you're getting an 8400 you should be getting something like a b360 board, and if you're getting those the max RAM frequency is 2666 so I would just get 16gb 2400 or 2666 MHz ram
