sooo 980Ti vs 1070? or 1080? idk

Aight.. so I've got a friend who's gonna be upgrading GPU's soon.. He has x2 980Ti's in SLI and hes looking at getting like 1080's or even the newer Nvidia cards coming out...

 

I've thought about upgrading to a 1070 recently but would it be better to get a 1070 or go with 2 980 Ti's?....

If the 980ti are sufficiently cheaper than a 1070, I'd go for one. It'll be a nice upgrade from a 960. I wouldn't recommend both as SLI is still a bit rubbish and you might need to upgrade your PSU to handle the power.

980ti in SLI should outperform any current GPU (maybe not titan V) in any game that supports SLI. In games that don't support SLI you'll have one active card and a glorified space heater. SLI is dying man. But the 980ti is stall a good card in solo.

 

1070/1080 will be more efficient, which means lower temps, which will mean the card may clock itself higher.

I would recommend GTX 1080 since it'll go longer without upgrading for a while. currently gtx 1070ti sell for the same price as gtx 1080 so I would get the gtx 1080 over the gtx 1070 or gtx 1070ti

gtx 980ti sells for $600 max as a second hand. I would go to a local electronics shop to buy it with tax cheaper

Depends on which dollar you mean, considering MSRP when new for the 980Ti was about $700 US.

 

Plenty of 980Ti cards available for around $350-400. I'd grab a 1070Ti though, as they have come down to near MSRP (~$500)

If I was you i'd get gtx 1080 rn since it's literally the same price as the gtx 1070ti rn

Depends on location. Here in the Netherlands, the 1070Ti FE is at MSRP (€469) where the cheapest 1080 is €600.

I would NOT go for the 980TI in SLI since it’s not commonly supported (anymore) for a lot of games.

 

I’d suggest looking for a 1070TI or 1080, depending on your budget.

actually, do a you tube search like i just did. 2 980's in sli did as good and a bit better then a 1080 or 1080 ti in every game on there. Every post i've seen on this forum where someone asks about sli/crossfire everyones responce is always get a 1080 it'll do better then those in sli or crossfire. Im assuming they have a 1080 and never ran 2 gpu's. My tip to the OP is just youtube it, and see for yourself you will get better info then what anyone is going to post here, 1080 is not god.
