Does my motherboard have any mPCIe port?

So, i wanted to add some e-gpu on my laptop, i got MSI GE62 6QC Apache, and the motherboard is MS-16J5, so my questions are,

Does it have any mPCIe port? how many? and how to make sure if the port is mPCIe or not?

Thank You

Why do't you take the bottom off and look?

It has mpcie, but with a wifi card in it.

It also has a m.2 which is a lot faster normally.

But egpu in laptops like this are a pain and need the bottom removed to work, and are normally bandwidth limited. Sometimes they won't even work at all.

well, i asked to MSI tech support and they said my motherboat has 1 x 2.5" HDD + 1 x NVMe M.2 SSD by PCIe Gen3 X4 / SATA-SSD Combo, so PCIe Gen3 X4 is mPCIe?

the m.2 isn't mpcie, there differenent connectors.

But the m.2 has pcie so it can use a breakout to an external gpu, but it might not work at all, and is a pain.

i saw from google like this, so rate of failure and success depend on on the M and B thingy on the e-gpu kit? and i was about to buy like this one: https://www.banggood.com/NGFF-Version-V8_0-EXP-GDC-Beast-Laptop-External-Independent-Video-Card-Dock-p-1009978.html?cur_warehouse=CN, so would it work?PA03_A1-1.jpg

If your putting this in a ssd slot you want one with b and m keys, not a and e

Also ive tried this type of egpu, and many of the systems i tried just don't work at all with it or will bluescreen, so be warned of that.

totally depends on the gpu and board, and you often have to try it yourself to know.

Unless you have a supported thunderbolt 3 or other supported egpu solution, egpu's are pretty hit or miss.

If you have a gpu and psu laying anound, its pretty cheap to give it a shot, but if you want a known working system id just get a cheap desktop and keep the laptop for on the go use or sell it.
