Upgrade my CPU and Motherboard

Hey I'm ready to upgrade my computer for video editing.

Currently, my pc can run games perfectly but is slacking in video editing now

Currently my build has

- Intel i7 6700K 4.0 GHz Quad core

- ASUS Z170-A ATX Motherboard

- GTX 1080 graphics card

- Ballistix 32GB DDR4 2400 MHz Ram

- SSD & HDD

Right now, I only plan to upgrade my processor and motherboard but am open to any other suggestions.

I'm looking to get an AMD Ryzen 7 2700X

Is this the best way to go or is their other options

If you're into Adobe Premiere, there's a somewhat new feature that allows you to utilize the iGPU for rendering.

 and

What issues are you having specifically? Just long render times or poor real time performance?

Yeah, I already know about GPU rendering. My problem is definitely real time performance, especially in After Effects
