1050 3GB Model Specs Listed on Nvidia Site

Daniel644

So some youtube videos I watched last week talked about a rumor that Nvidia would be releasing a 3GB Variant of the 1050 and it looks like it's been confirmed, this doesn't bode well for next gen cards launching anytime soon.

https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/products/10series/geforce-gtx-1050/

looks like it will have a lower memory Bandwidth then the 1050 and 1050ti but the same Cuda Core count as a 1050ti.

Not another 10 series card ? 1080 and 1080 TI was sufficient tbh.

It's like they want it to suck at mining so they gave it a shitty memory interface.

Hopefully its msrp is less. If its 1GB less but also clocked a bit higher thats not a bad trade

Well, that just makes no darn sense to me.

At first I thought it was simply going to be a 1050ti with just less GDDR5 RAM in it due to its current high cost (or a 1050 with more RAM), but now I'm just confused.
How much would the lower memory bandwidth impact performance?

So remember when amd said they weren't going to compete with intel on the high end in 2011. Remember the years of crap products from amd that followed and the zero competition they provided intel. Well raja said they werent going to compete with nvidia on the high end. I'd expect crap gpu's from amd for 5 years or so while they repeat the mistakes they made on cpus, and nvidia having no competition.

News flash, you dont get to decide whether or not your going to compete with your direct competitor. SIGH!

Another pointless GPU.

Why bother when the GTX 11 series is around the corner? To squeeze what little Pascal has left?

probably because it's NOT as "around the corner" as people think it is.

Still, why even release a pointless GPU in the first place?

same reason as the 1070ti and the new 1060 using the GP104 core, use up cores that where to good to go to the lower tier card but not good enough for the next card up.

Perhaps, but it has the issue of making the lineup more confusing.

So there's a 1050 that's like a 1050 Ti but with less VRAM and a narrow bus width and a 1060 that's a 1070 but...isn't??

First they release media focused GT 1030 with 2GB which supports HEVC playback 10-bit and 12-bit, HDR, etc... but you cant watch Netflix 4k because that requires at least 3GB of VRAM on Pascal GPUs.

Then they make the same release with DDR4 but still with 2GB.

Then you got a GTX 1050 2GB so no luck there so you have to either get at least GTX 1050ti 4GB or GTX 1060 3GB which has 10% less SM than GTX 1060 6GB but you would think based on the name that just the VRAM count is different.

Now GTX 1050 3GB ... which is a 1050ti with a lower VRAM count and a lot lower memory bandwidth... what?

And they wondered why we didn't buy Nvidia's "purpose" for the GPP.

It's totally contradictory given their increasingly confusing lineup
