Would the Vega 64 cooler work on the Nvidia Founders Edition 1080 TI?

I like the look of the silver and red cooler on the Vega 64 but I cant handel the performance, so I was wondering if I bought both and put the Vega cooler on the 1080 TI would it fit? I know the 1080 Ti is about 12mm longer but if I mouted it with the some wierd thing would it work? And when I take the air cooler off of the Vega I would resell it with a water cooler.

Given the different dimensions, etc, it's probably not going to work.

 

That being said, have you considered constructing a custom GPU shroud using acrylic or a 3D model and printer? It would be an interesting project and you would still be able to achieve close to the desired result.

Its not a troll but thank you for the suggestion of the custom shroud, but if I get the money I will take the risk, and if it dosn't work I can simply re-sell it, but just imagine me being able to tell people I have a Vega 1080 hybrid, and I want to be the first trying this. But since AMD usually runs warmer, the coolers would be more heavy duty, which should mean it wouldn't run so warm.

Just to add:

Technically speaking, anything that conduct heat will work. However you have multiple problems, mainly:

  • The heatsink of Vega64 might not be good at taking away heat from the GeForce card all due to larger difference in die sizes.
  • GeForce card uses RAM chips that are outside of the GPU, unlike the Vega64 with it's HBM chips. This means that those memory chips on the Nvidia graphics card will not be cooled,
  • The holes between Vega64 and GeForce 1080 Ti to screw in the heatsink don't line up.
