You don't need a key to install windows 10, just use their media creation tool and hit the I don't have a key button.

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

Eventually you still need the key to activate windows.

A regular home version costs 120/130 euro here, which is just over 200 Australian dollars... So that's just the price for the software.

You can look for a system builders version, they're a bit cheaper.

Look up from G2A or Kinguin. There are cheap keys available. I've bought many from both third-party sites and they've worked well.

You actually dont. It will just keep the water mark for Activation down in the bottom right and lock some features like customizing and stuff, but will never lock you out or your data out.

I'm aware of that. I myself don't like to see watermark every day in the bottom right corner, it just bothers me..

A watermark is a small price to pay for saving a good deal of cash, and not giving microsoft money for spying on you.

Fair enough, but your statement was misleading making it sound like the OP would be forced to get a key when in fact he wouldnt.

You can either buy a retail copy, an OEM key from a grey market site (not recommended) or from Reddit (not sure if allowed to specify), or... well you get my drift.

I'm with you though on the watermark. It got irritating to see until I was able to activate mine with a key bought from my school.

EDIT: Sigh just realized I quoted the wrong person... kind of high atm lol. Removed quote.
