What does the cinebench scores mean?

I just downloaded and ran the cinebench r15 program and honestly I don't understand what my results are actually telling me. Can someone inform me pls.

A benchmark is a reference for performance.

 

Cinebench is a CPU-based rendering benchmark which tells you how fast your CPU can render a scene using all CPU threads. The score can be compared to other CPUs to determine the relative performance between them. The numbers won't tell you anything in regards to video production or gaming as those workloads are different.

Again, it's a point of reference. Look up other Cinebench lists and you'll see how good your CPU is RELATIVE TO other CPUs. There is no binary answer yes or no.

I have an old am3 slot x965 that scores about 360

 

Sooo i got about 65% your speed. Im making a whole new 1950x rig soon though.

Im going to have to say no, you will hate rendering on it. I would suggest the most expensive cpus out there for rendering, even for simple renders. 

 

Rendering on a render farm is a viable alternative, its relatively cheap if youre getting paid $1,500 for a job and pay $10-$80 to render it. 

 

That said, it would still work for quick preview renders. You might do a lot of waiting though.

what score should I aim for if i might use some design software (like fusion 360) i will most likely do this for school, and it can be a bit slow bc im on a budget, but still want good performance. im also really into cars so might try design a car on some program. also video/photo editing. and of course gaming. Obviously with games Graphics card is more relevant but i still want recomended scores.
