What is this, I think it's an m.2 but it shouldn't be there.

I just got a new laptop and would like to convert my old one into a super quite home theatre  pc (It's got a i7 4710hq that I feel would be a waste to just toss) the actual laptop has been dropped a few times and it's kinda surprising it works at all, so I want to give it a new life but I also want it to have a 1060 so I'm wondering if I could use this with an adapter to make it a pci slot. I know that Linus is doing a video on one of those adapters that convert the wifi/Bluetooth adapter slot into a pic slot, but I'd really rather keep it and use this if I could.

So there's this white slot that looks similar to the WiFi slot and I'm thinking it's m.2 that wasn't in the laptops specs is it possible that it's usable expansion, or what is it?20180407_001803.thumb.jpg.60bddaf090025ed4e6e8623a4c555943.jpg20180407_001752.thumb.jpg.d8b52463c79caa2c76b1a3d303c0a153.jpg

I agree. There are two ways of verifying, really: either finding the service-manual for the laptop somewhere online, or just sticking some cheap mSATA-drive in there and seeing if it works.

I guess this is resolved already but just because it's haswell doesn't automatically rule it out for having M.2, those started to show up as early as Z/H/*97

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.
