no way, Sauron from LTT forums was so popular they were in a movie? Reminds me of how Walt Disney's parents liked Disney World so much they named him after it

I have many, probably double digit, but I refrain from using them for anything but redundant cold storage since they're used, all have 5+ yrs on them, and most have several hundred thousand bad sectors, read errors, and some have more miscellaneous failures... (Most I come across are bricked though... I guess those drives are the lucky ones?) If I kept broken drives I'd have like 60 of them

(note:  I did not check to see if this stupid joke had already been done.  In retrospect I assume so unless everyone but me considered it below them)

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Part of me thought that this thread has been renamed as "mo***[something profanity] on the forum" at one point. It's been a long time since I clicked here so forgive me.

Edit: the mods actually did it lol :old-grin:

I tried to google what sucks about seagate for data recovery but all I got was ads for recovery software.  What is so awful about them?

Of all of the hard drives I find, 79% of the Seagates have failed (29/34) (Failure defined as either doesn't spin up/initialize, or failing SMART). I just find their drives to be incredibly unreliable.

So it’s just high failure rate?  Sounds like it’s a bread and butter thing for data recovery services then.  I thought the rep of seagate drives was decent.  Perhaps it’s merely the least decent.

Didn't mean extensive hard drive repair, just what people call "data recovery" eg I dropped my laptop and broke the screen, now the data is "gone forever"
