Are 1080p 144hz 24" monitors considered bad/budget in 2018.

its more for esports titles. i use 1080p 144/240hz with a 1080ti

It depends on what you are doing with them.  For esports style fast paced gaming, no they are fine.  But 24" is small these days and 1080P is not the best resolution these days.

No not really. A lot of new pc builders are building systems for 1080p 60hz gaming so 1080p 144hz gaming is probably considered good

 

As @Synawke said, high refresh rate gaming is more for esports titles like cs go.

ok good so i didn't do the wrong thing having a 1080ti paired with 2 1080p 144hz monitors. Cos all I use my computer for is lots of competitive gaming and laid back gaming, hw, youtube, and maybe a bit of editing for fun

As mentioned above, a lot of esports and competitive gamers use 1080p 144Hz. Having a high framerate and refresh rate in fast-paced PvP games can make a big difference.

so 1080ti still good with 1080p 144hz for constant smooth gameplay with high settings. I didn't want my friends to think im budget/stupid purchasing them

Absolutely not. For editing, whether text, images or video, you want the best image quality possible and that means, if you can, a larger IPS display, not a 1080 one or a TN one.

Well, it's not really possible to have the wrong thing with your PC, if you're happy with it then it's fine. It's only if you're experiencing issues that you need to worry about mismatched hardware or settings.

As a gamer who regularly uses a high end PC, I definitely wouldn't go back to a 1080p panel, especially a TN one. That view is shared by most that I've come across who have experienced the difference between a larger 1440p IPS panel and a smaller 1080p panel. If you enjoy your monitor and enjoy gaming with it, that's great but it has no actual advantage over a larger 1440p monitor at all.

I've not actually played with a 144hz 1440p IPS monitor. One of my friends has a 165hz 1440p IPS Panel Monitor and it's the best monitor I have laid my eyes on and I can understand why he would never want to go back to 1080p 120hz/144hz, it's a pretty big degrade.

Exactly this. Also, For those who don't rate Gsync that highly, and especially those running AMD GPU's, a larger 1440p 144Hz monitor is often cheaper than a smaller, 1080p with G-Sync.
