Hi Guys,
I’ve been building HTPCs for about 7 years. For about 2 years I have been trying to build the perfect 4k gaming HTPC that met my needs.

My objectives

1. 4k/UHD gaming of AAA titles at 60fps

2. Fits under my TV and looks good

3. Quiet as possible

After 2 years of trial and error, I am finally happy with what I have yet it’s still a work in progress but I hope this helps someone looking for a great HTPC build with slight mods.

Also, I would like to know how you feel about the Semi Silent* (silent @ idle to medium loads) concept.

*Because the Cpu is passively cooled by the chassis and the only components with moving parts (fans) are the GPU and CPU which gave passive modes. This means that their fans don't spin until the system reaches medium load.

Here's my parts list

CPU: Intel Core I7-7700 | $303.00
MB: ASRock Z270M-ITX/ac LGA 1151 Intel Z270 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Mini ITX Motherboard | $122.00
Case: Streacom FC10 (Modified) | $285.00
PSU: Corsair SF600 | $115.00
SSD: SAMSUNG 850 EVO M.2 1TB | $342.00
Memory: G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 2133 (PC4 17000) | $170.00
GPU: ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1080 Ti AMP Edition 11GB GDDR5X 352-bit Gaming Graphics Card (purchased before prices spike) | $700.00
Pcie Riser: PCI-E Express X16 Riser Extend Card With 5CM High Speed Flex Cable | $20.00
OS: Windows 10 Home |$100.00
TOTAL: $2,157.00

Aida 64 for 2hours

Temps: Toasty but Stable no thermal throttling

Cpu Temps: HW Monitor reported 89c for max but Aida reported 86c for max. So somewhere between there I guess.

Furmark
GPU Temps: 85c little to no thermal throttling

Power Consumption: Idle 32-40w, Full-Load 355-365w

Benchmark: Heaven FPS: 133.9, Score: 3373, Min FPS: 32.8, Max FPS: 263.8

BTW, here are links to Youtube Videos for more about the build.

To say that im impressed is an understatement, passive cooling via the chassis like that is a great design.

Looks perfect in your setup as well.
