Next gen GPU's will be 11XX series NOT 20XX

According to tweaktown their source confirmed that it will be 11XX instead of 20XX like speculation has claimed, and it will no longer be XX60/XX70/XX80 but something else entirely. It's just a naming scheme but hey news is news, maybe there's an announcement coming soon since insiders already know the full names of the cards.

NVIDIA could launch new graphics cards with names like GeForce GTX 1185 and GTX 1175 instead, differentiating them against the GTX 1070 and GTX 1080. I could see this happening, as it would be an interesting move for sure, and I really like the idea of a GTX 1185 for example.

I figured I'd post this as no one else has yet. It's interesting news at least, whatever the cards are called I just hope it gives us the boost in performance we need for reliable 4k gaming and not just "4k ready" like Pascal was.

Not sure yet if 1337 is higher or lower tier than 9001. To ultimately fuck with everyone, it's gotta be higher though. It doesn't come with either of those but will feature

Yes. If not then with another name but same thing.

Reading 1080 Ti just gives you the warm fuzz instead of the plain 1080 so it would be stupid if they would remove a "special" name.

Well the 1060 has been very applicable in 21:9 I think I did choose that right...while dx12 is not it's real strong suit. It's been fun though and the PNY version has performed flawlessly and is still ok.  

 

I do want to see some new Gen that's not over msrp and can jump right into 4k though easily. One of my next Logical upgrades.

Hmm that makes sense, Nvidia's always gone with a naming scheme of adding 100 to the name of their previous cards, which is why we have the 400, 500, 600, 700, 800, etc series cards. Rolling from 10 to 11 would fit in better, but I'll be concerned when their generation after the 11 series releases since 12 or 13 wouldn't fit in that well IMO.

 

Personally, I think they should've gone with 20.

 

Although what the heck, going with 11 gives them more time before they run out of numbers so that's bonus.

There was an 800 series, but those didn't make it onto the desktop market and were limited mostly to laptops(don't recall seeing them in AIOs)

I'd expect them to go full Apple and next gen being the "X80ti". Well... if they did not already have "GTX" prefixes, which would confuse things. Like a GTX X80ti FTW SOC 16gb.
