Is a 1060 enough for 1440p

So I have been looking for a new display and I am wondering is a 1060 that can boost to 2025 Mhz enough for a 1440p display

every thing between fallout 4 and CSGO I know that is not very specific but I don't have one game that I play all day every day

That can't be. Watching old videos of the R9 380 and its pulling above 30fps on high details at 1440p 

 

A 1060 is about on par with a 580 and those two cards are supposed to be doing well at 1440p.

As loNg as you have a good cpu a 1060 (not sure about 3gb version) should be enough to stay at about 60 fps

1060 6gb should be fine for most things at 1440p, just do not expect to use ultra/max graphics settings in all games.

No, 1060 will struggle with 1440p. You will need to turn settings down to a combination of low/medium to achieve 60 fps average. 1070 is what is recommended for 1440p gameplay and even then you still have to turn some settings down to fully achieve 60+ fps.

Another question Do you have any recommendations for a 27" 1440p monitor with a higher refresh rate than for less graphically demanding games thanks

This is not true unless you are targeting 144hz.

 

RX 470 could do 1440p/60hz with high/ultra on FO4 and ~60 in Deus Ex at medium settings, 1060 is faster than that card by a significant amount.

 

Check out this review of the stock GTX 1060 6gb.  All benchmarks are done at max in game settings.

You can just run games at half resolution and be fine

 

get one of the 1440p 144hz IPS free-sync displays from Pixio or Nixeus
