Please stop mentioning riva TNTs or 3DFX Voodoos, all it does is bring back memories of how big a noob I was to ask for an Ati rage fury 128 just cos it had 32 mb ram. That shit was soooo slow and lagged hard in everything along with my K6II 450.

If so, you can use a sharp plastic scraper and citra-solv or 93% or greater isopropyl on it, just let it sit with the solvent of your choice on it for a but and then go at it with the scraper, don't be afraid to use a bit of force.

Well I am having to use my Creative Riva 128ZX instead of the TNT......also the older Nvidia drivers allow me to use 16:9 screens at their correct resolution (and they support games better).

Yeah even with as much as I loved my old K6 for the month or so that I had it (grandma's cat knocked something off a shelf and smacked the pins) it really wasn't all that impressive. Kinda like my Cyrix MII-333, now that I think of it.

I'm really tempted to switch over to my Celeron 333 and 440LX Asus motherboard. Either that or go straight back to the 440BX-2 and Pentium III 650 (I'm not using the Jetway motherboard for more than a testbed-PIII 667 shouldn't be slower in all areas than a PIII 650)

Update on that 750Ti from earlier (I know it isn't really that old). But I got it working again.... but only 1 fans spins. My fault for buying 4 pin fans for a 2 pin header.

Right, I didn't understand anything back then, and I didn't know why a K63 or Pentium 2 at the same or less speed would have been better, also my dad wouldn't have paid for high end stuff.

I was stuck with a 386 DX-40 until my mum replaced her Celeron 433 desktop with a Celeron D 2.4GHz desktop.......I was rocking Windows 3.1 and an 80MB HDD (both which still work perfectly-including the I/O card) in the early 2000's.

 

Edit: Ceramic caps+external Lithium ion battery pack FTW.

Top end 1.4GHz came out in 02 or 03 I think. Was designated as a server processor at the time but ran on standard socket 370. Handily beat out most Pentium 4s at the time too!

Katmai or the Pentium II SSE did. Coppermine went up to 1GHz (1.1 and 1.13GHz if you include the unstable AF models), and Tualatin went to 1.4GHz. Then you have the derivative Pentium M at over 2.2GHz, and Yonah at around the same except with 2 cores.

Pentium 4's were duds. My next PC after the K62 450 was a pre build Athlon 1400 with a Geforce 3, both my last prebuild and thing that my dad bought me. And I upgraded that to the now deceased 9800 pro I posted earlier.

And this is why I'd love to get a dual-socket board with AGP and a pair of 1.4's.  It'd make a dank ass pairing with a beefyish AGP card.

Only some though. The higher clocked ones especially when they brought in the first hyperthreaded ones absolutely stomped anything AMD had. Yes they ran hot if OC'd but only if Oc'd.

Haven't figured out if my board can Oc yet. It has dip switches but never played with them

The 3DMark 2000 results from the best cards that I have which work with my Intel SE440BX-2 (the S540 BTW only outputs red, white and black - flimsy VGA socket is damaged):

Still don't understand how the S540 can be so bad.

 

Typed up in Word 97 on the rig BTW, and set to A3 in Word 2007.
