Finally sorted my PC Gamer US demo disc collection and got it into proper storage.  These little things were a gamer's life line before high speed internet.

I miss game demos soooooo much. Why are they not a thing still!?! Maybe I want to see if it'll run ok on my system. Maybe I'm not sure I'll like it and want to try it out. Gah!

Demos cost a fair bit of money to produce a slice of the game and only that slice.  They're often mined for leaks these days.  There's also far easier ways to hype and advertise a game so demos are rare these days.  Heck they can just do 'free weekends' via digital services if they want.

 

But back in the day, a CD full of demos was days or weeks of entertainment for a kid.

Every game I got as a demo and played more than about an hour of, I bought. Worked way better than now, for me.

If they had Demo's I'd probably buy more games, I'd play it some and decide that yes this is actually worth $5 a lot more often than I do now which is...rarely. I played Creeper World as a demo and ended up buying every game in the series.

This is like me but for my PC I built.

So you built a PC with a 1000W PSU, an 8 core 4.1Ghz CPU, 32GB of RAM, and a Vega56...to play games that would run on a potato...? Yes, yes I did.
