was surprised that it was using just a normal Intel stock cooler... weird right ?

Thats pretty normal. Most computers will just have the stock CPU cooler.

That's not the point, but more like "surprised this current intel stock cooler design already existed almost 15 years ago". But yeah it was brand new at that time.

window 7 may work that's great news !!  also i was going to fully take it apart and put it back together to get some experience at building computers do you think that is wise ? also thanks for the comment :) !!

I mean if it's not a computer that matters if you break it, go for it. Take it apart, clean it, reassemble it, get experience, install Windows 7, learn some stuff, why not?

Thanks for the clarification. I guess I am just more used to seeing those in older systems than yourself.

I got the only one I have in 2010 with... an i7-970, for which it was woefully inadequate and thus never installed 😅

Didn't get one for my later parts becasue at some point they figured out that it made no sense, but them boxing it with a 130W TDP part was pretty funny... The NH-D14 I put on it was not even overkill once a good overclock was added.

How about another vintage handheld.  The Sega game gear, for the life of me I can't find any of the game cartridges but the unit still powers on.  More searching will be needed.

Hello all.

Sadly I lost my retro handheld years ago in a move (Gameboy Classic, Gameboy Advance and Game gear)

I do still have these left still 👍

If anyone is wondering how well a modern CPU compares to Pentium II, early Celeron and early to mid 2000's laptops:

Years ago I had some stuff from the mid and late 90's. I got rid of it though. You could find stuff like that in places like Salvation Army which is like Goodwill but Salvation Army is an actual charity and not just a company. Of course you would have to buy the whole computer and scrap it for parts. I don't have any pictures cause it was years ago.

I've never had anything to do with Katami. The only slot PIII I have is a Coppermine 650. TBH should have just been called the Pentium II SSE. Love the Voodoo2 (and is that an Awe64?)

Yes, it's SB AWE64 ISA :)

Dude.. I'm 13 and have an i5 750 with an Nvidia GTS 250 and all the other bells and whistles (found on a throw out pile recently)... powers on but no ddr3 ram. Tried to run it but no post... I think it is to do with the cpu socket and the fact that it has no RAM.

I might have some DDR3 stick if you need some

I have a 90's Dell CRT monitor that I use with my headless linux boxes when can't SSH in for whatever reason. The only input is a VGA cable, which is hardwired into the display.

You begin by opening up a GoodWill shop!

Is it bad that I look at that and think 'those aren't that old, I could use a couple of those cases'

Why do you think I have them? half of the damn things are empty, I just can't bear to part with them because what if I need some obscure clip or screw or old plastic bit.
