I love the cooler, I think it’s better than my old D14, especially with the TY143. I would recommend it to anyone..

As for the fan on my other cooler, it’s running at full speed and it’s barely audible. You should hear my Z77 system at full chap, it would drive you nuts ?

Edit:

yeah that is right above the gpu core, I do t recall what it’s for, might be important.. ?

edit again:

with ty143 you could probably do 400w, for sure 350.

This one is my kids rig, it’s an x58 rig with a Xeon x5690 es. I’ve had this setup since 2009. It’s kind of a hodgepodge of parts. That PSU is ancient, but was newish when I retired it.. I needed 2x 8 pin power for my 580 MP, that one only has 2x6. The mixed ram works ok, the 970 runs at 1405 out of the box. It’s not a bad setup if I’m honest. I don’t clock it much anymore because it’s for the kids and it’s fine, and it chews power, though not so much since I retired my 580s.

This might be the jankiest rig I've ever seen. Beautiful :D

Thanks, how does the 143 compare to the 147 in noise? I mean I'm sure the 147 is plenty fine for the wattage I'm doing. Anything is going to be quieter than the a Prism at 3700 RPM.

I'm a little worried about the special convex base tailored to Intel. I'd hate to need to lap a brand new heatsink. I might reach out to them but hopefully won't just get marketing fluff.

They are comparable until about 1400rpm, so fairly quiet. When you get past about 1800rpm it starts to get noticeable, at 2500rpm you will hear it for sure.

How did you get all of these cards?! Do you live next to an e-waste dump or something?

Mostly I bought them from EBay or Ebay-Kleinanzeigen ( a german site similiar to craigslist) or got them from the trash. But I mostly buy lots of untested cards, that gets the price way down. Some cards that I really want I'll buy as single cards.

Cool! The are usually above the 60Hz and some others are about the 100ish. Good refresh rates used to exist before flat panels came in to the market.

I try to use them, but many cards don't get much use after initial testing (and some cards don't even get that, those where I just have to many of). But I'm not just collecting, I like to play around with my hardware ;D

I had a CRT, that I managed to push beyond 500Hz on a low resolution, if my memory serves me right. Was fun, didn't last long, though.

And unfortunatly I can't find the pictures anymore :(

Retro...

I still have at least 2 Atari 800XL, Tapedeck 1010, 3x 1050, 1x XF551, some very special hardware for it like a harddisk within a case, some original software still packaged and so on - might sell some of it.

I also have an Acorn Archimedes 3000 and a RiscPC 600.
