OK thanks.

Just to be clear. If the fah client was reporting erroneous data, like a 6600 xt doing 6 Mil ppd (actually happened), would HFM give me accurate data based on what was actually done in the frames or the skewed data from the client.

I did try Fahbench, I noticed how old it was and I stopped using it.

On strong cards that can do several wu's per day it's not so bad, I can try a few a power limits in a day and see how a couple of wu's react to each limit, so I can get a general idea where it's most efficient. It's not practical do do this on many slower cards that are taking 4+ hours to do 1 wu 😞

Can HFM be set to record the data of individual cards in a rig, this would make it easier to track multiple slower cards?

HfM uses a database and puts ALL the WUs on all the GPUs into it so you can run queries on the dB and play "what if."

IDK if HfM will show better data if the FAHClient itself is reporting garbage. Perhaps as it can calculate the PPD slots are when running on just the last frame; last 3 frames; All Frames or Effective Rate.

Caught three slots running the same WU (p18202) and ran them all at the same Power-Limit (150W).

The 3070 ti is 38 - 48% more performant that the 2070 Supers at this Power-Limit on this WU.

So yes, the 6144 TFLOPs "Theoretical" FP32 performance of the Ampere cards does appear to be wildly exaggerated by NVidia as compared to the 2070s 9.06 TFLOPs it should be 140% more performant.

Considering that a 2070 Super is 88% more performant than a 1070ti the generational gap between Ampere and Turing is only about half of the gap between Pascal and Turing.

Likely explains why they have to run Ampere at such high Power Levels as running at similar power levels to the previous generation only serves to further highlight the lack of gains in performance.

Similar situation with Intel 12th Gen.

Not so much of an issue if you just want performance at any cost for occasional gaming but it sure adds up running Compute 24x7.

I just got into this with 2 cards, however when I click to see my stats nothing shows up even though I have "points" already.

My ID isn't showing up on the team member list either, any ideas why?

Here's how it looks:

Not really a competition unless you want it to be. All that matters really is that you meet the minimum PPD/WU/days folded thresholds for that event.

The "competition" part is friendly in the most literal sense. It's also not something that has to be thought of as a competition. As far as the event goes, there are no place based prizes yet. Everyone has the same chance to get something.

I view the events and the rewards around them as more of a "thank you" for people putting in the time and effort to fold as well as the electricity costs.

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.

I'm using 2 580s but one of them will instantly crash if it goes over exactly 1093MHz, something on the GPU has fried but it works fine like that.

There's also a 6200 TC as display output and it folds except it hits 110C after 5 minutes because the fan is busted. Finally my stats are showing points and WUs, making my nickname ridiculous really worked.

There are no badges for this event. But there are prizes, they are just not based on the place you end up at the end of the event

welp, guess my F@H box is getting a vacation for a couple days. temperature in our living room hit almost 30C today, the wife was not very happy about that 😬

when my other servers stop working as hard as they are now i can get back to F@H full tilt.

Hm. I don't like competitions, mainly because my odds are against anyone folding with 8x H100s.

This is why its called an event and not a competition, its all about increasing the compute power on the network, even if its only temporary, every little helps.

For me the competition is against myself, I try to one up myself by as much as possible.

Caroline has accidental confirmed my suspicions, GOTSpectrum´s 8x H100 folding rig will be ready and activated in time for the event  😁

The "competition" part is friendly in the most literal sense
