Right everyone, another shout out for some BOINC crunching! LTT is participating in the BOINC Pentathlon against other communities and it would be awesome to have you guys get involved. We are currently looking to get as many CPUs running the marathon task as possible. You can find all of the details needed on the thread below.

@leadeater can you pin this post please.

ill try the quick start tonight asap

Ooh, nice. My overclock got me a 100% PPD bump (instead of 100K and 80K, I have 200K and 160K).

The second card has less PPD as it's connected via 4x, not 8x.

PRIMEgrid will be a GPU project coming up on the BOINC pent in a couple days, would be awesome to see some of you folding heavy hitters running them and giving some other teams a run for their money

Just wanted to first say hi, and second to say best of luck going forward.

I've been doing my best to contribute to the team (Hell I even broke the top 12,000 on the team), but sadly my old 660ti just bit the dust. (really bad timing lol!)

You can see exactly when it happened in the weekly score output. I'll keep going on my 3570k, but won't be able to put up the same numbers for some time.

All the best!

Thank you for your contribution! I scoured XOC based on what you provided and was able to find your profile and award you a bronze folding badge for completing more than 5 Million Total Points. It's our way of saying thanks 🙂

hello folks, sorry for my absence,

i continue to fold when i'm able but for the minute i have no dedicated 24/7 folding effort set up. rest assured, i haven't lost any hardware, i'm just unable to commit the time and resource to it at present.

cheers

Ship it across the pond, I'll put your cards in ITNOs for you 😉

Checking my graphed history I always managed to get a good boost in PPD after every Folding event, I'd say 30% due to hardware upgrades and 70% due to improved WU/PPD efficiency.

Really would love to trade out the two 1070ti's soon but in this market thats gonna be hard to do for a while

Since I'm dailying macOS, and macOS doesn't support GPU Folding, I decided to try CPU Folding.

It gets me 80% PPD if both of my GPUs are Folding.

Maybe I can assign my GPUs to run tasks in BOINC? Not sure on that.

I'd like to swap my old one as well. I've been looking for a decent card for $150-225 to replace my aged R9 280. I've been hoping for something like a 960/970. I would then sell my card for a few bucks on the back side.

I've been CPU only for a long time for the same reason.  My non-mac systems are the ones without gpus (servers and similar), and the ones with good cards are running MacOS.  Sadly, a combination of issues prevents MacOS GPU processing from being done in a similar manner to other OSs, making the engineering overhead to make it happen in a completely different way for MacOS not something F@H has decided to do.

Had a Corsair CX750 power supply fail a while ago. Luckily I had a TX750 spare lying around. Finally tried to find the receipt today with no success so I’m not able to RMA it even if it was still within its 3 year warranty.

So I cracked it open and it appears that it’s issue was the 140mm fan’s ball bearings had seized. A quick google search yielded a replacement but that was shipping from China. Looking at the specs it was a 12v 140 cfm fan. Checking my stash of fans I found a Noctua NF-A14 PWM with a similar CFM. A little bit of work with the soldering iron and I swapped in the Noctua and the Power supply now tests OK with all voltages present on the 24-pin.

Maybe now I can replace the Chicony 220w TFX power supply I have strapped onto the rails of my Veddha Minercase.

I seem to have been stuck on Download for CPU queues lately.  They're saying no WU available for this configuration.  Anybody else?

A client update appears to have resolved the issue.  Guess my old linux ones weren't good enough anymore.

Wish they published to the normal repos so it could update with everything else, rather than having to manually wget then apt install .deb files.

Is anyone else having problems with FAHClient not working?
Mine's working on and off - sometimes it'll work, sometimes it doesn't. If it doesn't work I have to uninstall F@H, restart, then install F@H and put in my passkey again.

FAHClient is set to run on startup, but that makes no difference - whether I run FAHClient manually or have Windows do it is completely independent of it working or not.

I'm running 7.6.13 and not having any problems.

7.6.20 on my Windows Daily Driver (Win 10 Pro) - no problems (No local slots, just for remote control)

7.6.20 and .21 on various Ubuntu 18.04.5 LTS systems also without issues

When you remove FAHClient there should be an option to keep the "Data" which should keep the config including the passkey, slot configs etc. in C:\Users\<user_name>\AppData\Roaming\FAHClient Have you tried using that then re-installing?

You can also backup C:\Users\<user_name>\AppData\Roaming\FAHClient\config.xml manually

Congratulations, Gorgon! 👏 That's truly amazing!

Not to take away from that huge milestone, but I've been keeping my old shucked Dell laptop at work. I just crossed 800 WU yesterday, and decided to put a 1660 SUPER to work as well (on another PC) to help out that poor 2 Core Intel 5200U. To no one's surprise, the 1660 SUPER absolutely dwarfs that CPU. I keep it online though as helps out with some CPU time. Also, I wanted add while searching around for it some, will there be a F@H event this year? If so, how do we get news about it and participate? Any knowledge is gratefully accepted. 🙂

1059925828_ScreenShot2.png.1456c366a4ff052264bb8f1bc7d15d14.png

I was a bit tired of how I managed the PC, so I took it offline a couple of days ago to make a custom 'case' for it. It's made out of paperclips, pushpins, and cardboard for now.  It's not stupid if it works, right? (Don't worry, I have taped the necessary parts on the mobo to make sure there's not any arcing or short-circuiting.)

1859146151_ScreenShot.thumb.png.2551e897bf642e3f6f09680d8ef8567e.png

I learned about these projects from the LTT videos that they made during the end portion of the first quarter and beginning portion of the second quarter last year, and have been going at it ever since. I'm planning on upping my game more after this market and chip shortages settle down some, but I had a quick question for all of you: if it's practical, is there anyway to vent the heat outside during the summertime? I feel like this would be better for the environment and electricity usage so my A/C during the summer months doesn't have to battle the PCs inside as well as outside heat seeping in. This would be like LTT's whole room water cooling, but only for maybe two PCs instead of the four or so they they had (Was their server on the loop? If so, that would make it 5 PCs I believe). I do use the PCs during the winter to help with heating though. I've looked around on some forums and found this. Any thoughts?

Here's to many more years! Best of luck to all of you!

I hope you're having a great day, and are doing well!

Please tag me (@Happiness_is_Key ) or quote me in your post so I can see it.
