Did you sign up again at EVGA or find one elsewhere? I'm still waiting on my notification from November for a 3080 XC Black.

Resist the temptation and don't be one of those evil scalpers.

I'm waiting for a set of replacement fans for my Gigabyte GTX 1060 6GB and once I have those I'm going to put it up on a local site for $150 which should be a nice present for someone local looking for a GPU to hold them over. I've seen people offering them for $500Cdn locally.

I gave up today and picked up a 3950x and a Aorus ax570 Pro WiFi bundle with a $230 discount from a GigaByte promo from a local retailer.

The 3950x is going in my ax570 Master and the 2700x that was in the Master is going in the Pro WiFi to replace a Gigabyte x370 SLI and Pentium Gold 5500 in one of the systems.

Not much change for Folding but it will help BOINC!

I would love to have a 1060 to fold. My spare card is a R9 280 with a couple of MacGuyver'd up case fans on it. I've been looking around trying to get a GTX 960/970 for $100-$150 but haven't had much luck (aside from sketchy posts).

It's a slippery slope and I'm only wading into the water. I just would like a half decent, "old" card to put to good use and keep out of the landfill. A little efficiency is a bonus over the 280 at the moment 😛

so i ran the 6900XT for a bit and then switched it off, and the graph on EOC shows a nearly 4M PPD drop.

1621294167_4Mdrop.png.1a410476eecaba5e32a28577b597c3c8.png

this is kinda strange tough, since the card is usually doing about 2.5M PPD on average. The graph was still in an upwards trend after i switched off the 6900XT. i'm pretty curious as to where it would have flattened out now, so i'll probably keep it on for about a month and see what we can get!

Looks like your 6900xt got a steady diet of Cancer WUs in the 17711-17743 range.  I started a forum thread at FAH about this.  Eventually the FAH attack dog got on and ran what appears an obfuscating, go away scrub dialog.  FAH doesn't see any problem, and AMD won't help them.  It ended with a bunch of FAH angst.  I ended the convo.  If you think that FAH cares, they don't, I guess because mean old AMD won't help them.  If you think that there's equity in results given FPU32 performance, there isn't.

These cancer WUs kill 6900xt results.  Yes, the PPD for these WUs are in the 1.6m-1.7m range (there are a few outliers at 1.9m).  Strangely enough, the equivalent WUs done on an Nvidia card don't show the same problematic drop (Lar systems reports them doing 5.6m-6.0m for a 3080).  Oh, and these cancer WU's also kill performance of other AMD GPUs too.  Yes, I have a HD7950 and 5700xt doing folding too.  They both show the same killer drop (my estimation is about 2.5x). Normally the 6900xt sits around the 3rd place spot, behind the 3080.  Ok.  Look at these problematic ones and the 6900xt sits around 18th spot, right behind the 2060.  Ouch.  To put it another way, the 3080 computes these problematic WUs in about 30 minutes.  The 6900xt takes 75 minutes (which is why I'm guessing at around 2.5x).

BTW, my tickled 6900xt is doing about 4.5m-5.6m (regularly hitting 5.0m) PPD on various WUs, just so long as it DOESN'T do anything in that problematic cancer WU range.  All the while I'm also folding on the 3950x (edit: now a 5950x) at the same time (love those A8 WUs).  I'm running current 3401 bios on the Asus ROG Crosshair VIII Hero wifi, resizable BAR on (doesn't make any difference as far as I can tell), and Radeon drivers 21.3.2.

Of course, YMMV.  So enjoy your Foo Foo Dust PPDs, because they must be pulling them out of fairies backsides for these cancer WUs.

Has anyone (Who's lucky enough) noticed if resizable bar support increase folding performance to the GPU? My bios, vbios and drivers were all updated, yet support is still disabled (GPU-z), so I can't see it for myself.

I have resizable BAR on my rigs (see GPU-z screenshot below).  As for an increase in folding performance?  I believe I've heard FAH says it doesn't do anything for their application since the memory load from FAH on the GPU isn't that much.  I can't say myself I've seen much of anything in terms of improved performance, but with the varied work these units do, it'll be really hard to find that out unless you manage to process the exact same WU, with and without resizable BAR.
