Folding with the 3080 that's using PCIe gen 4, is pretty interesting. It's possible that the GPU can run fine with 1 lane (at gen 4). However, this is only in theory.

 

 

@cbigfootmy PPD is somewhere around 11-12M ppd. Will find out soon, providing windows updates doesn't cause another random system lockup. Good look competing!

I have seen some people running GPU's from their M2 NVMe slot. What adapter do they use?

 

I have an ITX board with 2 NVMe slots I would like to put to use with 3x3070's.

This is electronically wired for 4 PCIe lanes. The ones you'll find on Ebay are often just wired to 1 lane.

Yup, those are what I use. The extension cables are well made. The link I sent has the different variants and you can get them with different cable lengths and orientations to suit your needs. I found ordering them direct from the manufacturer cheaper than eBay or Ali Express and they shipped them DHL and they arrived to Canada in a week. @Unileversordered the same but they took longer. Shipping from the manufacturer was expensive ($35) but I was ordering 6 so it wasn’t too bad

I'm not expecting that the minimum requirements be higher for next year's folding month. Unless we get a new CPU fahcore that massively increased performance I don't see them being increased.

 

This isn't a HARD 'they will not be increased', just a 'it's unlikely they will be'

I dont think theres an easy way to verify that server side unless you track the units yourself

I suppose so, since slots are tied to donor id and you could just use EOC to verify units. Its public facing data after all.

Assuming they're only cpy folding, Lars's folding client could be a good way to help verify, but it's not fool proof. I'm mostly spit Balling and I'm only 2/3rds awake so I could be missing something obvious

once i can get some 3080s and a 6800xt should be good. lol...at this rate I'm not in a rush will wait and see what comes out next year as we get closer to the summer sprint...i really wanted to get one but rumors of NVidia getting tsmc made chips have made me decide to wait.

would love to see continuous folding badges for x period could talk to EOC as he sort of tracks that already

You can't rely on Folding@home Recent CPUs page, it can be manipulated. I know how to do it, I won't tell you how I found out or why but it can be done. If need be I can demonstrate to a mod.

Vega56 here working fine BUT I run the memory -50mhz for folding and the core -10mhz from the 1590 it runs out of the box with a 1080mv core. In reality the core ends up avging around 1050mhz and 1040mv over long term folding but the memory does in fact run at 750mhz vs the stock 800. At 800 it would fail out WU's pretty regularly for some reason and there's not really memory voltage controls that actually work on Vega despite what software may show.
