Don't lump me in with them. I'm an enthusiast of mechanic design, be it engines, weaponry, or productive machinery. Not a guy with a wrench that reads the marketing garbage AFE/insert other "enthusiast" brand that can't legally warranty half of their products.

I fail to see a correlation between people screeching variations of "forced induction is more efficient!!! Reclaimed energy!!!" and anything I've said.

If you can't be civil. Please leave

Edit. That goes for everyone in the thread

Heard pop on highway, went to shop, they sold her two LCA, two outer tie rods, no alignment, ripped her inner tie rod boots up, and left an unexplained drive shaft in her back seat.

I'd love to find an unexplained driveshaft. Adds to the excitement

What the heck.

like they would of made a good bit of money actually fixing the problem...what even was the point?

Woah! That's a nice chunk of the case that's broken off too. What a shame that some can do such poor work. If the shaft and broken case was your highway pop idk how they missed it or felt it ok to send you on your way with it like that. Neither is ok.

I also don't understand how they would do tie rod ends and not an alignment... But then looking at their mess I guess it doesn't surprise me.

What was that on? lol

Diag'd 2 more sets of injectors yesterday. Did one today because its under warranty. The other isn't. Very strange rash of injectors lately. Probably gonna get engineerings attention. I have a theory its poor quality gas. Each one I have done the gas smelled really... stale. Passes the dilution test that Honda has you do though.

Thankfully I am not there tomorrow due to 2nd rona vaccine dose, because they suck to do on CRVs. Leave that one for the plebs.

06 Trailblazer extended cab 4.2 4WD with about 180K on it. Frame on the passenger side was rotten and cracked too. Suggested she seek her money back and contact the states attorneys office if they refused. What a bunch of assholes. We didn't charge her anything.

Thats really sad... probably 2-3k worth of work on a truck that should be scrapped. We have a local tire shop that is notorious for stuff like that. Slap struts all around, brakes and calipers, and 4 tires. Meanwhile your CV axles are spewing their guts, multiple oil leaks, all fluids need serviced. But they can't touch those things because they are "just a tire and suspension shop".

Meanwhile the customer is paying that bill for 3 years at 18% interest a month, thinking they got a great deal. Our service financing is a way better deal for people that can't afford the up front cost because the interest is based on your credit rather than a flat rate. They are essentially the buy here pay here of service shops.

Yikes. There's a couple, maybe it's a local chain, called Velasquez around the area that are just awful. 30 day labor only warranty and they don't sell any parts. Instead they tell you what to go buy across the street from AutoZone. So then if there's a problem with a part they say sorry you provided it we don't warranty outside parts. Why don't they sell any parts? No one will give them a parts account! Lots of bad shit comes dribbling out of that place.

We looked at some of that finance the repair bill stuff but the terms were just so predatory that we never could in good conscience do that to our customers.

Yeah we have this one shop right across from us that usually catches a car on fire at least twice a year. I will try to get a pic the next time it happens. Its pretty bad when parts stores wont give them accounts. Must never pay their bills. I don't understand how a shop could make enough money to stay open without parts markup unless their labor rates are insane.

This one was the one Honda recommends us to use. I am not certain the details. We don't use it much, but its nice to have.

Yeah I suspect they're not paying taxes or something shady or just pay the guys minimum. I dunno, totally crappy place.

The companies trying to sell their financing to us were like StreamTree and PeachBrook and weird names like that. Really pushing how we'd get a cut of the weekly payments at 4000000% interest rate.

We get paid 100% up front. Basically they are the middle man
