Tek Syndicate Audio Myths with @MayflowerElectronics

Interesting, I look forward to watching when I get home today. I will finally get to hear the man behind the fancy logo.

Nice to see Mayflower on there, really enjoyed the video, and this makes me even happier for sticking by my guns with a high end onboard Audio chip.

LOL erryone getting mad in YT comments.

Some user stated about how he doubts onboard, i mentioned i tested it's output at a high sample rate 192khz, and explained it is not far off what he uses (Essence ST)

Here is what i actually typed...

"Called placebo, does it hurt your ego that a Realtek 889 is only a few percent behind your very sound card, i ran tests myself, there are now better on board chips than the 889, 110DB SNR, and excellent THD readings.

I even have a video using a shit mic."

His answer:

"+Recon-UK stick to your plastic pc speakers and your onboard audio and let me suffer with my coice....placebo my ass"

As i stated, thanks for the video, and let the hate flow through.

I lol'd at plastic PC speakers.

192Khz is a load of old tits to. You only need that kind of sample rate when recording professionally. And you can't even hear a difference.

It helps on my onboard as it clears the sound up, at lower sample rate the SNR is affected.

I also like my lossless :P

As a proud owner of a Xonar Essence STX this video has got my jimmies rustled to say the least. I can't say I find it easy to believe what they're saying. It seems highly unlikely to me that an entire category of PC products is useless and only sells based on marketing and false information.
That said I also don't see Logan as someone who would make a video like this without doing his homework first. I don't know what to think.
I'd be really curious to see what Linus thinks of this, since he seems to be a strong advocate for Asus sound cards.

Never in the video did we say sound cards are useless. I'm sure someone, somewhere has a valid point for using it. All we are saying is to not buy into marketing and know the facts about audio and how it really works, and to know what is good and bad for it. For the majority of people, it isn't good.

They said something about "just because it's different, it doesn't mean it's better." ...

It's that most audio cards suck until you get into the really high end stuff like the Xonar Essence STX but for nearly the same price you can get a much better external solution like the Objective2 + ODAC.

I really couldn't tell a difference between the 7.1 surround sound and with 2 speakers when listening to the Virtual Barber Shop. Now I know not to buy a 7.1 Surround Sound headset anymore
