what's better 980ti or 1070 and why even though their both the same? isn't there like small difference

1070 uses much less power and generates less heat, can overclock very high (2.1ghz) and overclocked performs better. Also newer.

Performance is equal, 1070 has better efficiency, 980ti has lower price.

The 980Ti is one generation behind, uses slightly more power, generates slightly more heat, and doesn't overclock as well.

 

Also, the 1070 has 2Gb more VRAM than the 980Ti(8Gb vs 6Gb).

Just to add, having higher frequency doesnt make the 1070 faster. Both are good overclockers when it comes to gaining extra performance.

1070. Similar Performance but:

 

- Uses 100w less (150w vs. 250w), that's a HUGE amount.

- Has 8gb Vram instead of 6.

- 1 generation newer, so will get longer and better optimizations for future Games.

 

 

Only 1 Reason exists to chose a 980 ti over a 1070: If you get it much cheaper. 980 ti for 300 bucks > 1070 for 580 bucks.

if the 980 ti is 100dollars+ cheaper, go with the 980 ti, assuming both are used.

A 980ti that has been overclocked very far will slightly outperform a 1070 overclocked. However it's going to sit at like 300w of power and heat against the 1070's 150ish watt

Most of the time, 980 Ti's OC'd will beat a 1070 OC'd as 1070 can't overclock very far. 1070 stock beats 980 Ti stock, but once the 980 Ti is OC'd then it performs near 1070 Ti-1080 stock level.

If money wasn't an issue, I'd pick the 1070 purely as newer. If money is a concern, I would be happy with a 980Ti instead. I actually have 980Ti and 1070 in different systems, and basically I don't worry if there is a performance difference between them. Basically the 980Ti has more cores at lower clock, and 1070 has fewer cores and more clock, and it kinda balances out give or take a little bit of factory OC and boost.

The 1070 is better, but not necessarily for the price. This is because it is slightly more powerful, has more VRAM and consumes less power. It also will enjoy proper driver support for longer.

 

I've owned both cards, and was happy with both.
